Minnesota Treatment Parameters
While the Minnesota Treatment Parameters have been in existence for over
nine years, there is renewed interest in them given the recent escalation
of medical costs that companies have experienced. The objective of
this training session is to provide claims adjusters with a functional
methodology of how the parameters might be applied. The Minnesota Treatment
Parameters are a lengthy and complex set of guidelines that are difficult
to understand. With this training, a claims adjuster will have a better
understanding of the basic premise upon which they were designed leading
to a better understanding of how they can be used in daily practice.
This program is designed for claims adjusters who have had little or
no experience utilizing the parameters.

Minnesota Statutory Rehabilitation Services
Statutory Rehabilitation Services in Minnesota are unique and can often
perplex those who are not familiar with the workers compensation system
in Minnesota. The objective of this training session is to provide
claims adjusters with an overview of how the process works, along with
a review of the forms utilized and the timeframes mandated. The historical
perspective that is important to the proper understanding of this system
is reviewed, along with the role and requirements of the Qualified
Rehabilitation Consultant. The professional conduct rules for QRC’s
are discussed to provide insight into behavior that might otherwise
appear to be strange or contentious. This program is designed for claims
adjusters who have had little or no experience in dealing with Minnesota
Statutory Rehabilitation Services, but also provides an excellent opportunity
for more experienced adjusters to have a dialogue on these practices.

SD Department of Labor are reviewed. This session is designed to assist

The HIPAA Experience
In early 2003 a new set of federal regulations that addressed privacy
issues for protected medical information went into effect. These new
rules not only presented challenges for the health care professionals
who had to implement them but also for those accessing health care
information. While the workers compensation system is exempt from these
regulations, the delivery of health care has changed in response to
these regulations. The objective of this training session is to provide
the claims adjuster with an overview of patient’s privacy rights
along with methods for obtaining information timely and effectively.
This program is designed for any staff that regularly interfaces with
health care professionals and or medical records departments.
This program is taught by Chris
Delich and Marijo Storment

Wisconsin’s Workers’ Compensation Treatment Guidelines 101:
The Complete Survival Guide
Wisconsin has done it again-the Agreed Bill of 2007 includes a very big development! The Wisconsin workers’ compensation
jurisdiction will be implementing treatment guidelines for the first time on November 1st of 2007. Given the guidelines are
new to Wisconsin, there’s a great deal of interest on what they are, how they will effect medical treatment, what impact they
will have on claims handling, and the ultimate question of how beneficial they will be in attempting to control medical treatment that may be viewed as unnecessary by insurance carriers or employers. The written guidelines are voluminous in size and can be quite challenging to comprehend. This seminar is designed to breakdown the guidelines in order to provide
a comprehensive overview and understanding of how this implementation in the Wisconsin jurisdiction will impact us as claims adjusters, employers, physicians, and nurses.
